After 10 years on GCML staff, I (Edwin) got married to Madea in 1994.
As the ministry began to expand, the need to develop human capa- civty became obvious. The need for capable local staff to one day take over the local ministry was realized during this early stage.
Mr. Amos Harris despite his ardent desire to become a medical doctor served as the first indigenous National Director, along with his wife Wola. Because the showing went on for over four hours, we returned home after 11PM. Despite the interference with our honey- moon, the showing was rewarding because we had the opportunity to see people come to the Lord with transformative testimonies, which gave us a sense of worth and peace.
In November1998, Madea and I returned home from refuge in Nigeria, during the Liberian civil crises, as the National Director of the GCML. Within two years of work, we served with limited personnel (two couple staff and two single staff men i.e. six staff). Because of this, we all had
to carry more than one responsibilities.
I assume the responsibilities of National Director, Jesus Film and Human Resource – same as Leadership Development Human Resource (LDHR) in the Great Commission Movement (GCM) / Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC) context.
Another staff couple was responsible for Finance, Operations & Student Movement while another single staff was responsible for Prayer and also assisted with the Student Movement along with another single staff.
During these first two years of work, we were faced with the challenge of re-building trust among the student disciples and church community. During the third year, we were bless- ed with two single applicants as full-time staff. We also employed an office manager, who took care of secretarial work as well as operations.
